Job Summary:

The Application System Architect assists with planning and development of the overall application integrated architecture providing leadership, tactical and strategic input. Proactively acquires and maintainsa high level of analytical and technical expertise on application, technical and integration capabilities and functionality of information systems. Provides consultative expertise and guidance on integrated IT solutions’ design in support of Virtua’s business/clinical priorities, strategic vision and goals.  

Job Responsibilities:

Carries out the best practice processes and tasks developed by the Sr.  Application System Architect and technical team to maintain the security and integrity of Virtua’s environments and records as well as maintaining Data Courier interfaces.  Works with the Application System Architect II to ensure processes are followed. Understands choices involved in foundational application configuration and utilizes in-depth knowledge, skills and ability to lead key application projects, conduct system builds and provide day-to-day support for applications, application analysts and customers

Assess business needs, recommend, develop, and implement solutions through research, analysis, and benchmarking to meet strategic goals, enterprise standards and customer’s needs.

Understands data structure modeling and applies that in-depth knowledge to generate solutions in an integrated application environment.

Provide application and system-level consultation to application teams to guide application and system solutions to ensure foundational integrity.

Collaborate with Epic and non-Epic Application Analysts and other internal and external customers to establish standards for maximizing seamless integration between systems.

Proactively acquires and maintains an in-depth knowledge of Application, Technical and Integration capabilities and functionality of IT Systems.

Seek and recommend new technologies or vendors to address specific business needs or to enhance practices.

Develops and documents procedures & standards for implementing system changes in an integrated application environmentCultivates and disseminates knowledge of integrated application change management best practicesCoordinates software upgrades, updates and changes needed to maintain the integrity of the system.

Conduct system architecture studies of new and existing IT systems to permit development of integrated systems which achieve corporate goals.

Mentor application analysts to increase their knowledge and awareness of integrated system considerations to guide the best design & solutions.

Provide 24 x 7 on-call support as required/scheduled. Adhere to IT Business practices and Project Methodology.  

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Information Systems development preferably within the healthcare industryAbility to have ‘big picture’ mentality and demonstrated ability to provide technically oriented solutions through thorough analysis and consultation. Proficient advanced troubleshooting skills utilizing analytical, technical & logical approach to problem solving. 

For Epic, experience with at least two of the following: SER, EAP, Data Courier, Orders Transmittal, Facility/Department structure.

Ability to have ‘big picture’ mentality and demonstrated ability to provide technically oriented solutions through thorough analysis and consultation. Proficient advanced troubleshooting skills utilizing analytical, technical & logical approach to problem solving.

Required Education:

BA/BS in Information Systems or related field required. Graduate Degree preferred

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

One Epic Core certification required and must obtain Epic Bridges Admin and Data Courier Admin certification within 6 months of hire date.
