Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the learning experiences (classroom,  clinical, Virtual and Brick and Mortar), of nursing students; providing student guidance and tutoring; contributing to the promotion of the total program; and demonstrating professionalism and self-development appropriate to teaching, service, and scholarship.

Position Responsibilities

Carries out daily activities within appropriate ethical, regulatory and legal standards and adheres to the Virtua Health’s, “Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct Statement” as well as the other Corporate Compliance and HIPAA policies designated by Virtua Health, federal and state regulations.  Complies with all organizational & departmental policies, procedures, and standards. Consistently maintains high standards of business and ethical conduct in accordance with applicable Federal, state and local laws and regulations including fraud, waste and abuse. Adheres to both the spirit and letter of applicable Federal, state and local laws and regulations with attention to Federal Department of Education regulations related FEPRA. Practices good faith in transactions occurring during the course of business. Steadfastly complies with all of Virtua Health’s privacy policies and reports any breach of such policies, whether the individual or another member of the workforce committed the breach. Refuses offers, solicitations and payments to induce referrals of the people we serve for an item of service reimbursable by a third party. Notifies their supervisor and/or the Director of Compliance and Privacy Officer of instances of non-compliance. Protects and retains records and documents as required by professional standards, governmental regulations and Virtua Health policies. Complies with organizational & departmental policies, procedures & standards, for example but not limited to: Associate health, Dress code, Attendance, Safety/Fire, Universal Precautions, Infection Control, and Safety Reporting.

Plans and implements course(s) integrating theory and clinical experiences to prepare students for entry-level nursing practice. Organizes the course based on the course outline. Develops evaluation tools. Coordinates clinical experiences with appropriate agencies. Utilizes creative teaching strategies in the classroom and clinical settings. Evaluates the course and submits written course report. Serves as a role model in the classroom and clinical area. Demonstrates caring behaviors to students, patients, families, and staff.

Participates in the planning, development, and evaluation of curriculum. Participates in weekly course planning meetings. Selects learning environments appropriate to contemporary nursing. Evaluates clinical learning experiences. Contributes to the development of the annual budget. Participates in faculty workshops.

Contributes to the promotion of the total program. Participates in Open House Activities. Participates in the interview process for applicants. Participates in School activities. Participates in committees of the Faculty Organization

Manages student guidance, evaluation, and discipline to ensure fair and equitable treatment. Participates in the guidance program and provides student advisement. Provides formative and summative evaluations as appropriate. Enforces the policies of the School. Manages classroom and clinical student behaviors.

Demonstrates professionalism and self-development appropriate to teaching, service, and scholarship. Participates in continuing education activities. Maintains CPR certification for health care providers. Fulfills requirements of hospital –based mandatory education. Demonstrates clinical competence in the area of expertise. Promotes the nursing profession through community service. Participates in the orientation of new faculty. Assists in the development of faculty personnel policies.

Supports and utilizes research in nursing and nursing education. Incorporates research finding into theory content and clinical practice. Participates in research activities. Incorporates current nursing education research in the development/maintenance/evaluation of the total program.

Position Qualifications Required:

Required Experience: 5+ years of teaching experience, Will train Novice educators with Adjunct faculty experience and or a Master’s degree in Nursing Education

Required Education: Master of Nursing degree required, Master of Nursing Education, EdD, PhD or DNP preferred

Training / Certification / Licensure: RN licensure in the state of New Jersey required, BLS required, (ACLS, NALS, PALS required for specialty courses) CNE preferred, ED and Critical Care/ICU experience required.
